Two upcoming webinars are free for ASPE members
On May 15, Specification and Design Considerations for Thermoplastics in Commercial Water Applications, sponsored by Corzan Piping Systems, will explore the various considerations when replacing metals with thermoplastics, including pressure and temperature ratings and mechanical and environmental factors that can affect long-term performance. On June 19, New Technologies for Legionella and Pathogen Control, sponsored by Water Control Corp., will discuss the different methods of controlling Legionella/pathogen levels in plumbing systems, including cost comparisons with sample problems for participants to complete. Both webinars award 0.1 CEU.

Deadline to apply for ASPE Working Group 15 is tomorrow
Volunteers are needed to help develop a new American National Standard on system design methods used to regulate the temperature of water exiting a fixture or appliance in domestic water distribution systems. You can find more information on WG 15 here, and if you are interested in joining this effort, please submit an application by tomorrow.

Get back to the basics at our next regional workshop
On June 27–28, our Basic Plumbing Design two-day workshop in Rosemont, Illinois will cover the design, sizing, and equipment selection for storm drainage, domestic hot and cold water, water heating, sanitary sewer, and natural gas systems. This workshop awards 1.3 CEUs.

Millions of Americans may be exposed to contaminated drinking water systems
The Environmental Working Group and researchers at Northwestern University have created an interactive map of PFAS contamination in the United States, which shows that more than 600 drinking water sources in 43 states may contain toxic levels of PFAS, affecting more than 19 million Americans. More>>

A quarter of the households in the U.S. are very concerned about the quality of their household's water supply, which is an increase from 2017, when less than a fifth (18 percent) were very concerned, according to the 2019 WQA Consumer Opinion Study. More>>

The specification would require new homes that earn the WaterSense label to be at least 30 percent more water-efficient than a comparable home of typical new construction. More>>
