Plumbing industry expert Ramiro Mata joins ASPE as Senior Director of Technical & Regulatory Affairs
In this role, Ramiro will represent the interests of ASPE and the plumbing engineering community in code and standards activities as well as serve as a technical resource for the ASPE staff and membership. He will build and maintain relationships with other industry organizations to ensure that the public's health and safety are kept at the forefront of legislation and regulations regarding plumbing system design, installation, inspection, and maintenance. 2018 CPDT exam registration opens June 25
ASPE's Certified Plumbing Design Technician (CPDT) designation provides immediate recognition of
plumbing system designers early in their careers, and the 2018 exam will be held on October 25 and 26. To learn how the CPDT can help accelerate your career, read our new case study at bit.ly/2JAXETx. Registration for the 2018 exam opens next Monday at aspe.org/cpdt-exam.

ASPE Chapters to be recognized in ASPE Pipeline for outstanding achievement and dedication to the Society
New for 2018! To allow more time for the affairs of the Society to be conducted during the 2018 Business Meeting in Atlanta, ASPE will announce the 2017–2018 Chapter membership award recipients in each edition of ASPE Pipeline leading up to the event. All award recipients also will be featured on ASPE's Convention & Expo website, with additional coverage during the Expo on Monday, October 1, in the ASPE Pavilion where recipients will receive their award and have a photo opportunity with Society President, Mitchell J. Proposed legislation would help modernize U.S. water infrastructure
ASPE, along with numerous other industry organizations, has endorsed the NIST Plumbing Research Act, which would re-establish a federal laboratory to conduct research on premise plumbing and ultimately inform a comprehensive upgrade of U.S. plumbing structure, design, and construction standards. Labor shortages and sustainable building continue to be top construction industry trends
For four quarters, more than 90 percent of contractors have been concerned over labor shortages, with almost half expecting the problem to worsen, according to the second-quarter 2018 USG Corporation + U.S. Chamber of Commerce Commercial Construction Index. Also, more than half of contractors report registering or certifying their U.S. projects with the USBGC or LEED in the past three years.

Volunteers are sought to participate on a task group that will recommend methods to address the health and safety impacts of water temperature on Legionella and scald risks. The deadline to apply is July 9. More>>

CodeFinder is an interactive online tool that identifies the NFPA codes and standards that are in effect in U.S. municipalities or counties, as well as in regions of Canada, South America, Latin America, and the Middle East.
