WQA Names New Meeting Services Director

The Water Quality Association has named award-winning meeting professional Angie Silberhorn, CMP, as its new Meeting Services Director. Silberhorn will direct the association’s annual convention, its Mid-Year Leadership Conference, and other key customer and member events.

“We’re thrilled to have someone with Angie’s expertise in this very important role on WQA’s leadership team,” said Tom Bruursema, WQA Associate Executive Director of Member and Public Engagement. “Her extensive background with developing diverse event initiatives in highly competitive markets will serve our industry well in producing the WQA Convention and Exhibition, which for nearly 50 years has been the signature event of the water treatment industry.”

Silberhorn, a Certified Meeting Professional, comes to WQA after eight years with the Warehousing Education and Research Council, most recently as its Director of Events and Strategy. She previously worked as Convention Manager for SmithBucklin and Meetings Services Manager for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and she was an adjunct faculty instructor in the Meeting Planner Career Program at Moraine Valley Community College.

Recently, the Greater Midwest Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association announced Silberhorn is the 2020 recipient of the Robert J. Donovan Award, presented to an outstanding meeting professional who leads by example, inspires volunteerism, and is committed to the growth of the industry.

Silberhorn holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Roosevelt University.
