WQA Meeting Services Director Is Honored by PCMA

WQA Meeting Services Director Angie Silberhorn, CMP, has been honored with the 2020 Robert J. Donovan Award, given to an outstanding meeting professional who leads by example, inspires volunteerism, and is committed to the growth of the industry. The award was presented by Greater Midwest Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association in an afternoon ceremony in Chicago.

“We’re delighted to celebrate this prestigious award with Angie and are honored that she is now a part of WQA’s leadership team,” said Tom Bruursema, WQA Associate Executive Director of Member and Public Engagement. “Already she’s bringing that award-winning enthusiasm and strong work ethic to WQA, where our members will greatly benefit from her expertise.”

Silberhorn has been a member of the Greater Midwest Chapter of PCMA since 1997 and has led or volunteered on many committees. Her nominators noted that, “in 2020 she spearheaded the Lunch n’ Learn series and was the Chair of the Task Force. This series was especially relevant and well received during this catastrophic year for our industry.”

Silberhorn, a Certified Meeting Professional, came to WQA this summer, just in time to participate in the 2021 Convention & Exposition in Las Vegas, the association’s first in-person event in nearly two years, and to assist with final preparations for the 2021 Mid-Year Leadership Conference on September 14–16. She is set to direct major WQA events going forward, most notably the 2022 WQA Convention & Exposition in Orlando on April 6–8.
