WCC Celebrates 50 Years of Innovative Water Treatment Solutions

2021 marks a major milestone for WCC (Water Control Corporation). This year, the company celebrates 50 years of designing and building custom-tailored water treatment equipment for the most challenging applications in the healthcare, industrial, institutional, and residential markets. WCC has created a 50th anniversary video to thank their industry partners.

WCC was incorporated in 1971 in Chicago by entrepreneur and manufacturers’ representative Charles (Chuck) Soderholm Sr. For nearly a decade, he had been successfully representing a major producer of water softeners in the Upper Midwest. When this producer was swallowed up and liquidated by a major corporation, Chuck teamed up with some of the displaced employees to form Water Control Corporation. Several years later, WCC was moved to Minneapolis: a hotbed area for the water treatment industry.

Chuck Sr. now resides in Grand Marais, Minnesota, a seaside town on the shores of Lake Superior. He recalls, “It was always my dream to grow WCC into a national leader, with a focus on providing solutions to engineers, plumbers, and the mechanical industry as a whole. I wanted to peel away all of the smoke and mirrors, so I could give these folks the knowledge and tools they needed to be successful in water treatment.”

Now 50 years and three generations later, WCC is growing by leaps and bounds. It enjoys an extremely strong base in the Upper Midwest, 100 percent employee ownership (by its 50+ employees), and a large network of independent representatives throughout the U.S. and Canada. With engineering and service teams that are second to none, the company is aiming to become the U.S. market leader for custom commercial and high-end residential treatment solutions, including:

  • High-purity and ultrapure water
  • Legionella and pathogen control
  • Water reclamation and recycling
  • Softening, filtration, and contaminant removal
  • HVAC feed water
