Watts Delivers Clean Water to Four Communities on Global Handwashing Day

In recognition of Global Handwashing Day on October 15, Watts again partnered with Planet Water Foundation to deliver clean drinking water, sanitation supplies, and educational programming to vulnerable communities in Cambodia, India, Mexico, and the Philippines.

Global Handwashing Day is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives, which is especially important during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

To support these efforts, Watts sponsored the construction of four AquaTowers at primary schools in Cambodia, India, Mexico, and Philippines, which provide children and their families with easy access to clean, safe drinking water and handwashing facilities. Watts also donated AquaSan mobile surface disinfection systems to promote good water hygiene practices in the schools’ latrines and funded water health and hygiene education programs.

In total, these projects will improve the lives of more than 1,350 students and thousands of other community members.

“According to UNICEF, 4 billion people experience severe water scarcity for at least one month each year, and 2 billion people live in countries where water supply is inadequate,” said Robert J. Pagano Jr., President, CEO & Chairperson of the Board. “These statistics are among the many reasons why Watts always strives to be a responsible corporate citizen. We are proud to continue creating a safer, more sustainable, and equitable world for those experiencing water scarcity, not only through our Planet Water Foundation partnership, but also through our products and solutions that protect, control, and conserve water.”

Since 2016, Watts and Planet Water Foundation have provided clean water to approximately 50,000 people in Cambodia, China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, and Puerto Rico.
