The 2019 Chicago Construction Codes are the first comprehensive revisions to the city codes in 70 years. These updated construction requirements better align Chicago with up-to-date model codes and national standards and make construction in Chicago more affordable by expanding options to design and build with a wider range of materials and technologies. May 2020 supplements are also now available.

Also, the Chicago Plan Review Manual will help you prepare for performing plan review for new construction in compliance with the Chicago Construction Codes. The following are now available:
- Volume 1: Application Screening, Building Planning, Means of Egress
- Volume 2: Fire and Smoke Protection Features, Interior Finishes, Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems, and Nonstructural Material Requirements
