SSOE Group Adopts New Mission Statement as Firm Approaches its 73rd Anniversary

SSOE Group, a global project delivery firm for architecture, engineering, and construction management, announced that it will be updating the firm’s mission statement to focus on client value and advancement of the AEC industry as it approaches its 7rd  anniversary on August 8.

SSOE’s updated mission statement—approved by the firm’s Executive Management Team and Board of Directors in April of this year—reads as follows: “to deliver unparalleled client value that advances the AEC industry.” Vince DiPofi, PE, President and CEO of SSOE, shared, “The AEC industry is ripe for disruption. SSOE has set an aggressive goal to become 50 percent more efficient in the delivery of projects. This goal will be achieved through the integration of people, Lean process, and new technology. Working toward this goal, however, we realized that to truly bring value to our clients, we would need to engage our partners in a holistic advancement of the industry. That was the catalyst behind our new mission and its focus on the industry as a whole.”

Evolutionary Change

Delivering value is not a new mission at SSOE. The firm’s former mission, “to make clients successful by saving them time, trouble, and money,” has guided SSOE through over a decade of success, delivering over $1.5 billion dollars in documented project savings for clients. SSOE refers to these savings as their “Value Promise” and will continue to document them as a tangible measure of value.

DiPofi explained, “Our clients love it—it’s tangible. But even more than that, it drives a culture constantly looking for innovative ways to improve what we’re delivering to clients. We will continue documenting our savings on projects, but also understand that we’re in a position to go beyond impacting individual projects to begin driving value into the entire capital delivery supply chain. In that way, our new mission statement is an evolution more than a change in direction. We’ve recognized that for this to occur, it can’t just be SSOE. It needs to be the entire project delivery supply chain—owners, contractors, equipment vendors, and other partners—for clients to see the full value of these advancements.”

Already working to advance the AEC industry from within, SSOE began its corporate partnership with the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) in 2015 to align with its efforts to consider Lean Principles as the cornerstone of SSOE’s culture and organizational strategy. “The focus on Lean Principles has been a big part of enhancing the culture here at SSOE and in the AEC industry as a whole. We are striving to have every project begin by defining value in our clients’ eyes through Conditions of Satisfaction. The clear definition of these factors empowers the entire project team to work together to make decisions that drive toward a shared vision of value,” says SSOE’s Catherine Myers, PE, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President, and Chair of the Board.

SSOE’s updated mission reflects the goals of the firm’s more than 1,100 employees across 18 offices in the U.S., Mexico, and India. In 2020, SSOE had one of its most successful years in the firm’s history with 2021 on track to surpass it. “We want to maintain this positive trajectory and inspire employees and our clients with our new mission—going beyond individual projects and challenging each individual to be a part of building the future of the AEC industry, bringing unparalleled value to each and every one of our clients,” DiPofi concluded.
