SharkBite Reveals What Gives Its Brass Push Fittings Their Secure Bite

When RWC first introduced SharkBite push-to-connect fittings nearly 20 years ago, the industry was presented with an unprecedented solution that would make the jobs of contractors and plumbers quicker, more efficient, and more reliable. Plumbers can trust the secure fit of a brass push fitting, thanks to its tight-sealing o-ring, tube locking stainless steel grab ring, and corrosion-resistant brass body. You can see what the inside of a fitting looks like, how the parts work together, and how it’s made in this article.

This month, RWC is featuring two of its most popular SharkBite brass push-to-connect categories:

  • Brass Push Fittings – Enabling seamless transition between different types of pipe materials, SharkBite Brass Push Fittings are compatible with PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT, and HDPE pipe. Sizes range from 1/4 inch to 2 inches.
  • Brass Outdoor Hose Valves – These multi-turn and quarter-turn shutoff valves allow for the regulation of water flow. The valves are available in a variety of styles—such as garden valves, frost-free silcocks, and hose bibbs—and require no special tools, crimping, glue, or soldering to install.

SharkBite brass fittings are approved for use underground when wrapped in silicone tape and behind walls without access panels. Also, true to all SharkBite products, these push-to-connect fittings work with several pipe materials and don’t require special tools, crimps, glue, or soldering. More information on the series of brass push-to-connect fittings is available in the product line spec sheet here.
