PHCPPros Announces Next Webinar In Special Series

In April, PHCPPros launched its Special Webinar Series with the goal of keeping readers educated and engaged in the face of COVID-19. The series allows readers to log on each week and learn something new from plumbing, heating, cooling, and piping professionals. The next webinar takes place Tuesday, April 28, at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) and will feature Steven Nudelman, partner at Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP. His webinar is titled, “COVID-19 and Construction Contracts.”

Nudelman’s webinar will help contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals understand the various types of contract and common law claims stemming from the COVID-19 outbreak. It will focus on the concept of force majeure, its format, meaning, and purpose in construction contracts. He will look at different kinds of force majeure clauses and their impact on the contracting parties. In the realm of common law claims, the webinar will look at impossibility of performance, frustration of purpose, and commercial impracticality. Although these extra-contractual claims all treated differently across jurisdictions, they have the same purpose as force majeure: to seek relief for excused performance.

In addition to contract and common law claims, the webinar will look at the important concept of notice, including the form, content, and mechanics of the “notice letter” for a claim based on COVID-19.

Nudelman concentrates his practice in construction law and the representation of members of the construction industry across a broad spectrum of matters. His clients include owners, contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers involved in public and private construction projects throughout New Jersey and New York. Nudelman is a Charter Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America, Co-Vice Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Construction Law Section, Vice Chair of the District VIII Fee Arbitration Committee, and a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Complementary Dispute Resolution. He is a frequent lecturer to trade industry groups on construction law issues and is the author of numerous articles. He serves as the legal columnist for Plumbing Engineer and PHC News and is a former columnist for Plumbing Systems & Design.

PHCPPros will continue to announce webinars that will cover a range of topics, from working from home to plumbing design and clean energy.
