Nicholas Hipp, CPD, Is Appointed AYP Liaison to the ASPE Board of Directors

ASPE President Carol Johnson, CPD, LEED AP, CFI, FASPE, recently appointed Nicholas Hipp, CPD, of the St. Louis Chapter as the ASPE Young Professionals (AYP) Liaison to the Board of Directors. In this role Nicholas will be responsible for communicating regularly on behalf of the Board with AYP members, and vice versa, as well as managing the network of Chapter AYP Liaisons.

“I am excited to move AYP into 2021 and have a few ideas in mind on how we can improve the group to go from walking to running,” Nicholas says. He proposes:

  • Improved communication throughout the entire AYP network, especially between Chapter AYP Liaisons
  • Routine meetings for the AYP Committee and Chapter AYP Liaisons to brainstorm and keep things moving
  • Increased opportunities for AYPs to thrive

Nicholas is currently the Manager of Plumbing Engineering and a Senior Plumbing Engineer with Case Engineering, Inc. in St. Louis, and he also serves as President of ASPE’s St. Louis Chapter. He has 13 years of experience in plumbing design for new construction and renovations to commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. Nicholas was named the 2017 Engineer of the Year for the United States by Plumbing Engineer magazine, received the ASPE Award of Merit for 2017–2018, and was nominated to the Community Plumbing Challenge by the International Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Foundation to participate in a week of plumbing education and improvement in Cikarang, Indonesia. He received an AAS in Architectural Technology from Ranken Technical College in St. Louis.

About AYP

The ASPE Young Professionals special-interest group is designed for young industry professionals looking to meet with their peers to share experiences, exchange ideas about the plumbing design industry, and network with other Chapter members. The focus of AYP is to help young plumbing engineers, design professionals, and practitioners establish contacts and further the mission of the Society. All ASPE members 35 years old and younger are included in this group.
