MSS Publishes Two New Revised Standards

The Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) of the Valve and Fittings Industry has announced that SP-136-2020: Ductile Iron Swing Check Valves and SP-45-2020: Drain and Bypass Connections have been revised and published.

Standard Practice (SP)-136 was originally published in 2007 and continues to serve the industry by providing requirements for ductile iron swing check valves with flanged, threaded, mechanical-joint, push-on, grooved, and shoulder ends for general purpose usage. This Standard Practice covers check valves for installation in pipelines that are horizontal or in pipelines where flow is above horizontal, up to vertical, with flow upward.

SP-45 has served as an industry norm for over 67 years, covering requirements for connections to valves and fittings to accommodate drains and bypasses in all pressure classes. This 2020 edition includes multiple updates and has added additional drain sizes.

SP-136 and SP-45 continue to be maintained under the consensus of MSS Technical Committee 106, Cast Iron Valves.

The revised Standard Practices are now available from authorized U.S. and global distributors in PDF and book formats.
