ICC-ES PMG Issues First WaterSense Certification for Soil Moisture-Based Irrigation Controllers to Baseline

The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) PMG Listing Program has issued its first Listing Report (PMG-1630) with the WaterSense Certification for Soil Moisture-Based Irrigation Controllers to Baseline, verifying their biSensor Soil Moisture Sensors comply with WaterSense Specification. Baseline’s BL-5311 and BL-5315B sensors are designed to work with the Baseline BL-1000 and BL-3200 irrigation controllers for commercial or residential projects. (The test procedure in the aforementioned specification is based on ANSI/ASABE S633.)

“We are pleased to issue our first WaterSense Soil Moisture-Based Irrigation Controllers to Baseline,” said ICC-ES PMG Director of Standards, Maribel Campos. “With the ICC-ES PMG listing and WaterSense certification, code officials can have confidence when approving this innovative technology for installation.”

“This is a major milestone for smart irrigation,” stated Peter Carlson, CTO at HydroPoint, the manufacturer of Baseline products. “The Baseline soil moisture sensor has been the ‘gold standard’ in the industry for decades; it’s exciting that we are the first to receive the distinction.”

ICC-ES PMG works with manufacturers interested in receiving both the WaterSense label and the ICC-ES listing mark simultaneously. This program provides a one-stop shop for manufacturers to obtain a code conformance listing, a WaterSense listing, fast turnaround time, and an opportunity for broad market acceptance. The WaterSense program protects water supply by promoting water efficiency and enhancing the market for water-efficient products and practices.

ICC-ES PMG also offers listings for water-efficient urinals, lavatory faucets, high-efficiency toilets, showerheads, spray sprinkler bodies, and landscape irrigation controllers, in accordance with EPA specifications.
