Get to Know John Pacholski, CPD

In this edition of Get to Know, we are pleased to introduce John Pacholski, CPD, a member of ASPE’s Chicago Chapter.

ASPE: What book do you recommend everyone should read?
John: Though I don’t claim to read a lot in my free time, I did read the book The Martian recently. I think this is a great book since it combines scientific theory with an interesting and funny main character (who is stranded on Mars). Overall it’s an entertaining book for a technically minded person.

ASPE: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
John: One of the top items on my bucket list is to go on an African safari. Seeing all of those amazing animals in their natural habitat would be an awesome experience.

ASPE: What are your hobbies outside of work?
John: I enjoy golfing, hiking, watching sports (go Bears), going to concerts, and listening to/playing music (guitar).

ASPE: What is your favorite type of music, band, and/or song?
John: This is kind of a loaded question, but if I had to choose I’d say my favorite type of music is blues given its rich history in Chicago, favorite band is The Beatles since I was forced to listen to them so much when I was young, and favorite song by them would be “Don’t Let Me Down.”

ASPE: Do you have a favorite vacation spot? Why do you keep going back?
John: I have been to Maui a couple of times. The weather there is just perfect, and I like the fact that you can just cruise around the island and go beach hopping.

ASPE: What is your favorite holiday and why?
John: Thanksgiving is a great time to fill up on food, family, and football.

ASPE: What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
John: My favorite sport to watch is soccer as I grew up playing competitively; also, there are no commercials until halftime. Since my body won’t let me play soccer as much anymore, my favorite sport to play would be golf. This weird time we’re in has allowed me plenty of time to improve my game!

ASPE: What’s your favorite type of foreign food?
John: Any type of Asian cuisine, the spicier the better.
