The American Water Works Association (AWWA) has announced that the AWWA Virtual Summit: Water Quality & Infrastructure will be held online on December 8-10. Early registration prices are in effect through November 27. Member registration is $195, and nonmember registration is $295.
The AWWA Virtual Summit technical program is available here. Featured sessions for the event include:
- Tools and Technologies to Effectively Manage Water Infrastructure: Panelists will examine a recent project completed by The Water Research Foundation that captures the innovative approaches, tools, and processes that have been used to effectively manage deteriorating water infrastructure.
- Infrastructure Funding Opportunities: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency representatives will discuss the benefits of the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program and Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act and how to access financing through these programs.
- Legionella: Case Studies, Insights, and Monitoring: Recent legionellosis outbreaks, lessons learned, and information about this bacterium will be explored. New detection methods and monitoring strategies will also be presented.
- Microplastics: Methods and Removal: Although microplastics in drinking water supplies are a significant topic of emerging interest, the industry is only beginning to build institutional knowledge. This session profiles the development of analytical methods and treatment efficacy.
There will also be a special topic session on the removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) entitled “Focus On: PFAS.” The session will be separated into three parts: Technology Evaluation for PFAS Removal; Innovative Treatments for PFAS Removal; and Resin Treatment for PFAS Removal: Regeneration Considerations.
The AWWA Virtual Summit will include an interactive workshop entitled “Compliance With the Lead and Copper Rule Long-Term Revisions: Identification of Lead Service Lines Without Digging,” which will focus on the policy implications of lead service line inventories by examining a series of utility case studies and the requirements of the upcoming Lead and Copper Rule Long-Term Revisions.
