Caleffi North America’s Office Renovation Project Awarded Top Projects of 2020

Selected by industry professionals appointed by The Daily Reporter, a news source for commercial construction projects in Wisconsin, Caleffi North America’s office renovation project was recently awarded Top Projects of 2020. The Projects were recognized during the 22nd annual competition at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee.

Late in 2018, Caleffi realized a facility expansion including an overhaul of a vacant mezzanine space was necessary to accommodate its rapid growth. The project began in August 2019 and completed in February 2020. Bence Build Architects was chosen as the general contractor and was also responsible for submitting the project for award consideration.

At the heart of the expansion was the incorporation of “collaborative zones” to accommodate unique work environments that can be transformed into large spaces for 50-person training and workshop events. High-tech audio and visual equipment was installed. A welcoming lunchroom with patio overlooks American Family Field, the home of Caleffi’s next door neighbor, the Milwaukee Brewers.

Explained Mike Schreiner, Director of Operations, “We invested a considerable amount of time in the project in order to create appealing work spaces for our staff as well as have the ability to easily transform a space into a training venue. Caleffi’s commitment to continued education is no surprise to our industry. We have already had industry and education partners inquiring about utilizing our training space. Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) recently utilized the space for a community learning experience.”

According to The Daily Reporter:

In 2019, CALEFFI NORTH AMERICA set out to renovate its Milwaukee headquarters in a bid to turn it into a more appealing destination for both customers and employees.

The firm, which  manufactures control valves, heat meters, and various other products for the heating, cooling, and plumbing industries, needed to accommodate customers coming in for tutorials and seminars. The project was also meant for employees who work frequently with the company’s production, inventory, product-assembly, and other departments.

CALEFFI turned to Bence Build for the renovation, which called for improving existing offices and work spaces and overhauling a vacant mezzanine space. Bence served as both the general contractor and architect on the project.

The work involved the installation of high-tech audio and visual equipment along with collaboration zones and other working spaces. Crews build special rooms that can be converted from small lounge areas to spaces big enough for 50-person workshops and lectures.

The project also improved CALEFFI’s link to its favorite neighbor, the Milwaukee Brewers. Crews added a 400-square-foot deck overlooking Young parking lot, directly connecting game-day tailgating to an employee break room.
