ASPE Young Professionals Announces Two New Webinars

The ASPE Young Professionals (AYP) special-interest group invites you to participate in two new webinars in July: “Job Search Preparedness” on July 16 and “Investing 101” on July 23. Both webinars are free for ASPE members and $50 for nonmembers.

The first one-hour webinar is presented by Skip Newman, a business consultant and senior officer and board member of the Chicago Chapter of Financial Executives International. He will focus on job search preparedness from a paperwork standpoint (e.g., resumes, handbills, profiles, business cards, etc.) as well as cover networking tips, LinkedIn usage, email accounts and etiquette, elevator pitches, and other related topics. The webinar will discuss how COVID-19 has affected how we can socially interact and offer ideas about how you can adjust your tried-and-true methods to continue networking during the pandemic. Many of the tips and suggestions that will be discussed will be the direct opposite of what other experts recommend, and Skip will explain the reasons for his differing views.

Also presented by Skip Newman, the second webinar will discuss basic investing terms, how investments are sold, the different types of investment firms, what to look for in an investment advisor and how they are paid, and simple strategies to invest your money. At the end of the session you’ll have a much better understanding of how to invest your money, and you will uncover some truths about investing. Note: This webinar does not cover topics such as personal budgeting, estate planning, or insurance products.

Both webinars will be recorded, so if you’re unable to make one of the live broadcasts, they will be available at a later date. CEUs will not be presented for participation.
