ASPE Member Miles Grubbs Is Recognized as a 2023 40 Under 40 Award Winner

Miles Grubbs, PE, LEED AP BD+C, WELL APASPE Raleigh Chapter member Miles Grubbs, PE, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, has been selected as one of the 2023 40 Under 40 award winners by Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine. This award is given annually to 40 nonresidential building industry professionals ages 40 and younger who stand out in a mixture of personal and professional aspects of their lives. Winners will be presented with their award at a ceremony in Chicago in October 2023.

Miles is the Lead Mechanical Engineer for Little Diversified Architectural Consulting Inc. in Durham, North Carolina. According to Consulting-Specifying Engineer, his colleagues and clients say Miles is a knowledgeable resource, mentor, and thought leader. With more than a decade of design experience, Miles writes publications on sustainability and engineering topics and co-wrote an article on Covid-19, which was presented at industry conferences, including PENC, USGBC Carolinas, the Building Performance Analysis Conference, and the AIA Research Triangle Building Enclosure Council. Leading the Durham office’s mechanical engineering practice, Miles has given numerous firm-wide presentations on engineering basics, along with many recurring training seminars on Revit.

He serves as the Vice Chair for the Town of Cary Environmental Development Committee. He’s also an active member of Little’s sustainability steering committee, Sustain@Little. Miles has been recognized for his dedication to Little and its clients, named an Associate in 2018 and a Senior Associate in 2021. He has received several awards for exceptional performance, and his projects have been recognized within several prestigious awards programs including from AIA, Design Build Institute of America, Learning by Design, ASID, USGBC, and CoreNet Carolinas.

When not at work, Miles can be found at home, likely cooking and trying to entice his five-year-old into adventuresome eating. Lately, he has been trying his hand at vegan and vegetarian cooking. On weekends, Miles enjoys cycling. Most of his rides end with a beer from a local brewery. However, his competitive side really comes out when playing a board game or tabletop role-playing game with friends.
