The first workshop, “Domestic Hot Water Design,” will be held on March 20, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This class will help you understand how each water heating system in a commercial building will function as well as how each facility will operate and use domestic hot water differently. Using hands-on exercises, you will:

  • Lay out several different types of boiler systems
  • Calculate hot water demand
  • Size the boilers/water heaters and the piping system
  • Select the correct mixing valve
  • Calculate the correct circulation pump size

8 PDHs/0.8 CEUs will be awarded for this workshop. The cost is $250 for ASPE members and $400 for nonmembers, and registration is open at ASPE Education.

The second workshop, “Basic Fire Suppression Systems,” will be held on March 21, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This class will explore the basics of NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, fire suppression installation, and fire suppression shop drawings. It will cover automatic wet, dry, and preaction systems as well as standpipe systems and fire pumps and also look at the building implications and spacing requirements for different types of fire suppression systems.
