IAPMO India is pleased to announce the release of the 2020 Uniform Solar, Hydronics, and Geothermal Code — India (USHGC-I), an updated version of the 2012 Uniform Solar Energy Code — India.
The 2020 USHGC-I is a product of the joint effort of the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) and IAPMO Plumbing Codes and Standards India Private Limited (IAPMO India). The 2020 USHGC-I is a set of recommendations to everybody involved in the design, engineering, construction or manufacturing of solar energy products and systems. It may be viewed online here, and a hard copy will be available for purchase in early 2021.
“We thank IPA Technical Committee members for all their diligent efforts in bringing the code to India, and now we have another important release, the 2020 Uniform Solar, Hydronics and Geothermal Code — India, said Dr. K. Chandrasekhar, Managing Director of IAPMO India.
The provisions of this code, which is recommendatory, shall apply to the erection, installation, alteration, addition, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of solar energy, water heating, appliances intended for space heating or cooling, swimming pool heating, process heating, geothermal and hydronic systems, snow and ice melt systems, and use of any solar energy systems or swimming pool, spa, or hot tub systems within this jurisdiction.
“The entire plumbing fraternity—consultants, manufacturers, dealers and distributors, contractors, academicians, and students who are budding plumbing engineers—will benefit from this code,” said IPA President Gurmit Singh Arora. “This reference guide will help all professionals in making the right decisions when it comes to implementation of the projects.”
“Due to COVID, the Technical Committee meetings were held virtually for the revision of this code. Members used a virtual platform to review the contents, discussing them word by word and taking care of certain related sections, reviews, and observations,” said B.S.A. Narayan, Convenor of the Technical Committee. “The task was quite difficult, but the IPA TC was determined to complete the assignment and the credit for this goes to each member of the IPA Technical Committee.”
