WOA Scholarship Recipient Reflects on the 2017 ASPE Technical Symposium

November 6, 2017 – On October 19–22, hundreds of plumbing industry professionals gathered at the Hotel Bonaventure Montreal to participate in the 2017 ASPE Technical Symposium, presented by the American Society of Plumbing Engineers. This year’s event was the second largest-attended Technical Symposium in ASPE’s history, due in part to numerous first-time attendees such as Kari Rosteck, EIT, a Mechanical Designer with Stantec. Kari was the recipient of the first Women of ASPE (WOA) scholarship to help a deserving member attend an ASPE educational event and was selected among the applicants for her outstanding qualifications, industry involvement, and desire to make the most of her experience at the 2017 ASPE Technical Symposium.

“Attending ASPE’s 2017 Technical Symposium was an amazing experience all thanks to the passionate attendees, unique technical sessions, fun evening activities, and informative tours,” Kari says. During the Symposium, Kari participated in the ASPE Young Professionals (AYP) Leadership Academy and networking event at Rage Montreal, toured the Jean R. Marcotte wastewater treatment plant, and attended educational sessions to learn new design skills. She also interacted with manufacturers’ technical and sales staff at the Product Show and networked with fellow ASPE members from across North America. You can read more about her experience at aspe.org/content/woa-symposium-summary.

ASPE’s Technical Symposium is the premier professional development event for those in the plumbing design industry and features top-notch technical training, a Product Show, networking, and social events. It is presented biennially and will be held next in Pittsburgh on October 24–27, 2019. In even-numbered years, ASPE hosts the ASPE Convention & Expo (expo.aspe.org), which offers a full-scale exposition with hundreds of product manufacturers and service providers in addition to educational and social events.
