Delta Renews Its Exclusive Sponsorship of WOA

We are pleased to announce that the Delta brand has renewed their status as the Exclusive Sponsor of the Women of ASPE (WOA) special-interest group for the fourth straight year. Delta Faucet Company is a leading manufacturer of kitchen and bath faucets, showerheads, tub and shower systems, toilets, and related accessories, and Delta, its flagship brand, began its sponsorship of WOA in July 2016.

WOA was created to engage, retain, and advance women in the plumbing design industry through education, leadership development, and networking opportunities. The group is committed to bringing women together and assisting them in achieving their professional and personal goals, and to accomplish that goal, WOA hosts local events, national forums, and other networking/professional development opportunities for ASPE members.

“Delta Faucet Company has always been honored to support the Women of ASPE,” says Jason Gonzalez, Sr. Director, Commercial, of Delta Faucet Company. “Their mission to engage, retain, and advance women in the plumbing industry is an inspiration and aligns with our belief that in diverse, inclusive companies, ideas flow freely, all voices are heard, and all perspectives are valued.”

Accomplishments

ASPE currently has 597 women members, representing a 40 percent increase since the inception of WOA. In fact, this segment of ASPE’s membership has experienced growth every year since 2015. Women members now represent 9 percent of ASPE’s overall membership base, which is a major accomplishment and highlight for the Society.

In 2015 and 2016, three women served as President of local ASPE Chapters. Now, 10 Chapters operate under the direction of a woman, representing the largest number of women Chapter Presidents ASPE has ever had. Also, for first time in ASPE’s history more than 100 women serve in leadership roles on the Chapter level.

In 2016, WOA held its first Women of ASPE Leadership Forum during the ASPE Convention & Expo in Phoenix, and the event was so successful that it was held again during the 2018 ASPE Convention & Expo in Phoenix. WOA has awarded an annual scholarship to a worthy individual to attend the national Convention & Expo or Tech Symposium for the past four years, and the group was instrumental in creating ASPE’s Mentoring Program, which has helped hundreds of young plumbing system designers connect with mentors who assist in achieving their career goals. WOA also routinely collaborates with groups such as the Girl Scouts of America to help foster the next generation of women engineers.

Future Goals

This year, WOA is once again holding its popular Leadership Forum at the ASPE Convention & Expo in New Orleans. This exclusive event will offer participants the opportunity to network with peers, gain knowledge, and walk away with actionable insights that can be applied toward professional growth, plus the ability to earn CEUs for their licenses and certifications. More information on the Leadership Forum will be available later this spring.

“We are grateful for the Delta sponsorship,” says Sarah Balz, PE, CPD, GPD, LEED AP, Chair of WOA “With their support, we plan to bring a mini version of our WOA Leadership Forum out to all ASPE members in the future.”
