David Carrier is appointed ASPE's Region 3 Affiliate Liaison
ASPE Region 3 Director, Steve Mastley, CPD, FASPE, has announced the appointment of David P. Carrier, Founder & CEO of QuantumFlo, Inc., as the Society's Region 3 Affiliate Liaison. David replaces Thomas Sharp, Charlotte Pipe's Field Technical Services Representative for the Southeastern U.S., who was elected as ASPE's 2018–2020 Vice President, Affiliate in September. In this role, David will disseminate information from the Society VP Affiliate to Region 3 Chapter Affiliate Liaisons and communicate on behalf of the Chapters.

The 2019 ASPE Technical Symposium will be held in Pittsburgh on October 24–27, and we are currently taking proposals for 90-minute technical sessions on a variety of topics for plumbing system design professionals at all career levels. You can learn more and submit a proposal at aspe.org/CallforPresenters. The deadline to submit a proposal is February 15, 2019.

Alfred Steele Scholarship applications are now being accepted
Do you need some help getting a degree in engineering? ASPE awards up to $3,000 in scholarship monies each year to qualified applicants through the Alfred Steele Scholarship program. It is limited to ASPE members and their immediate families who are in or plan to attend a college, university, or technical school on a full-time basis, are enrolled in an engineering program, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2019.

Successful 2018 Community Plumbing Challenge concludes in Thoreau, New Mexico
Thanks to a multi-disciplined team of tradespeople from around the world, 10 Navajo homes now have new sanitation and leeching systems and safe electrical systems, and nine of the 10 have running water for the first time. You can learn more and view pictures of the projects here.
