Christoph Lohr is named the Society's new AYP Liaison to the Board
2018–2020 ASPE President Carol Johnson, CPD, LEED AP, CFI, FASPE, recently appointed Christoph Lohr, PE, CPD, LEED AP BD+C, ASSE 6020, as the new Liaison to the Board of Directors for ASPE Young Professionals (AYP). He replaces Blair Minyard, PE, CDT, CPD, who was elected as the Society's Vice President, Education at the ASPE Business Meeting in Atlanta last month. More>>

Plumbing Engineer magazine is accepting nominations for Engineer of the Year
Annually, ASPE's official publication, Plumbing Engineer, honors a plumbing engineer doing excellent work in their career and for the profession. If you know an engineer who is deserving of this honor, submit a one-paragraph nomination that illustrates their worthiness to ashlei@tmbpublishing.com. In addition, provide the person's name, professional title, company name, email address, and phone number. Nominations will close on November 2 at noon CDT.

2019 CPD exam registration opens December 1
ASPE's Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) is the only international credential program that provides formal recognition of outstanding professionals with advanced skills in the design and specification of plumbing systems. The 2019 exam will be held on April 4 and 5, and you can learn more about the program, eligibility, and the exam at aspe.org/CPD.

New legislation authorizes WaterSense in perpetuity
On October 23, President Trump signed S. 3021, America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, which statutorily imbeds the WaterSense program into U.S. law and provides for investments in water infrastructure improvements throughout the country.

Community Plumbing Challenge travels to New Mexico this week
The 2018 Navajo Nation CPC has assembled a multi-disciplined team of tradespeople to execute plumbing and construction projects that will improve living conditions in approximately 10 households nominated by U.S.-based nonprofit organization DigDeep. Massachusetts once again leads the State Energy-Efficiency Scorecard
Also according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy report, states increased investments in energy efficiency in the utility sector, resulting in a 7.3 percent increase in electricity savings—enough to power about 2.5 million U.S. homes per year. More>> 

EPA to sunset the WaterSense specification for pre-rinse spray valves
Because there is limited opportunity for additional water savings beyond new DOE regulations, which require the flow rate and spray force to be determined in accordance with ASTM F2324, WaterSense will cease labeling pre-rinse spray valves on January 1, 2019. More>>

Technical session schedule for ASHRAE's 2019 Winter Conference has been released
