"Time to Show our Support for our Affiliates"
The 2010 ASPE Plumbing Engineering Exposition and Convention will be taking place in October of this year. We as engineers need to start planning now to attend this year’s one of a kind event for Plumbing Engineers. As all of you know, our affiliates are an integral part of this Society and together we make this society great.
With the current state of the economy, we need now more than ever to show our support not only for ASPE but also for our affiliates. A large turnout by the engineering profession and other design professionals at the convention will be a strong showing of our support.
We need to tell everyone in the profession that by attending this event this will be a stepping-stone in his or her careers the information obtained from this event can be used your daily designs.
Having the ASPE Convention and Exposition in Philadelphia, PA in an area of the country where not only ASPE has the greatest concentration of members but also so does many of the other design professions within the industry. This is an excellent opportunity for ASPE to highlight and to promote not only our excellent educational programs but also the greatest Plumbing Exposition event in the country.
The educational program for this event is currently in the planning stages as in years past the Education Committee is playing a large part in helping the Convention Co-chairs in developing the program.
In other news about this year’s convention, the BOD is discussing
wanting to go “Green” paper less I do not want to spoil the Presidents next newsletter about what the board is currently discussing but for those that attended the “Grassroots” meeting got a preview of our discussions on the subject.
PEDH
By now, everyone should have received his or her copy of Volume 1.
I hope you took the time to read the special dedication in memory of John Norman Parks CET, CPD. As I have said before this is a small token of our appreciation for a man that was dedicated and had a great love for this Society.
There was a problem with some of the boxes not being properly glued if you were one of the few that received a box without a book contact the ASPE office and a new book will be sent to you.
I am currently looking for a Volume 1 chairman to continue the process to update the next release even though it is four years away it is never to early to start.
The Technical & Research Committee along with the Volume 2 Chairman Jim Rogers CPD are currently reviewing Volume 2, all but one of the first drafts of the chapters has been submitted, and the committee has completed reviewing almost all of the first drafts that have been submitted. The committee is also currently reviewing some of the revised chapter to be finalized before being indexed. Plumbing Engineering Design Handbook Volume 2 has a scheduled delivery date to the membership in January 2011.
The Technical & Research Committee is also started reviewing the first drafts of chapters of Plumbing Engineering Design Handbook Volume 3.
Luther Ellis has volunteered as Chairman of Volume 4. Luther is in the process of looking for authors of the various chapters so if you are interested in working on any chapter of this book please do not hesitate to contact me.
