CPD EXAM
The next exam is scheduled for April 16th and 17th. It is good to see that many chapters have started having study groups and classes in preparation. I have received a few emails asking what the best thing to do to prepare for the exam is. The answer is simple. “Study.”
No matter how long you have been doing plumbing design, you still need to crack open the books and review the material. There can be areas that are not done on a day to day basis and a little refresher course goes a long way.
ASPE is helping in making available several study tools. There are currently three practice test exams available on the website Individuals who purchase these exams have unlimited access to the tests. The answers and explanations are given but the tests can not be printed out. It has been shown that 50% of the people taking the practice exams passed the CPD test.
Coming soon will be CPD Webinars. There will be 3 or 4 of them in March and these will also be valuable study tools for the test.
There has been a lot of interest in the exam this year. It is very important in these times to keep up with your education and credentials. Please pass on the information for the webinars and practice tests. We don’t want anyone to miss out on an opportunity that would help them pass the test.
2010 CONVENTION
October is just around the corner and the work has been underway for a month or so now. A call for papers had been sent out and posted on the website and the response we have received so far is very encouraging!
The Education Committee will be meeting this week to work on the topics and speakers. We need to present a final track list to the board at the April Board meeting in order to have everything approved and ready for advertising to the membership.
GRASS ROOTS BUDGET MEETING
Mark you calendars for March 13, 1010. The meeting will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is lots of material to cover and hopefully every chapter will be represented.
This grass roots meeting will be held at the ASPE Headquarters and all members are invited to attend. The only board members that will be there in person will be Julius Ballanco and Gary Mahoney. Other board members will signing on like other members.
This meeting is an open dialogue with the chapter officers and gives them the opportunity to review the budget and express concerns or approvals
I don’t need to tell you that money is really tight this year. You are probably all feeling the pinch; some more painful than others.
It is no different for ASPE. The board has come up with an operating budget for the coming year and as in the past; it will be presented to the membership via the internet. The board does not take this subject lightly. There was more time spent on this one than last years. I can’t speak for anything beyond that, but everyone went through it with a fine tooth comb.
But, it does take money for ASPE to run and the board is sensitive to the economy and the effect it is having on our members.
We hope each chapter takes it just as seriously and joins us on the 13th.
CHAPTER PROGRAM EVALUATION FORMS
These forms are required as part of the annual reports. It is easier to do them once a month rather than waiting to complete them at the end of the year.
I have only been receiving the evaluation forms regularly for a couple of chapters.
These need to be submitted regularly and new forms have been emailed to everyone from Pam Newman at ASPE Headquarters.
I am using these to update the speaker bureau on the ASPE website, so please get these forms in so we can keep that in motion.
2009 Technical Symposium
Yes, it was smaller than we have seen in the past. But the good news is we had some of the best feedback for a Technical Symposium that we ever had!
Every one of the forms that are filled out get reviewed. The board also does a “crack list” of the good and the bad. These are our guides in setting up the next programs and speakers.
You input counts. We try to make your experience the best it can be!
