Volume 1 Dedicated to “Norman”
Volume 1 of Plumbing System and Design will soon be on the way to the membership. The book is currently at the printers and is currently on schedule for a mid January delivery to the membership.
This volume is a special volume back in July at the board meeting the Board of Directors voted to dedicate this volume in memory of John Norman Parks CET, CPD. This is just a small token of our appreciation for a man that was dedicated and had a great love for this Society. Norman was a very special friend not only to me but to many other members of this Society and is deserving of this honor.
Those of you that have had the pleasure to meet Norman know that he was a very special person and dedicated countless amounts of time both at the Society level and at the Chapter. He was surly a “Southern Gentleman”.
Symposium
The University of ASPE and The University of the PCA was a great opportunity for all those that attended in the development of their careers. The review comments about the technical sessions that I heard from the attendees was that the session choices were very good and that the attendees wished they opportunities to take other sessions that were able. When asked the attendees also stated that the information they were able to obtain was very interesting and would help in a Plumbing Engineers daily activity. Attendance was not what we at Society expected. We at Society understand that these are tough economic times but wish more members were available to take advantage of this great educational opportunity.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally, thank all the attendees that were able to attend this year’s event. The response that I received from all the attendees I talked to was that they were pleased with all the technical sessions and enjoyed all the other daily activities.
Joining with the PCA was another great opportunity for both ASPE and PCA members to meet and share not only educational opportunities, job related experiences and a chance to establish professional relationships.
A special thank you goes out to Estaban Cabello, PE, FASPE, and Joseph Vela CPD co-chairs for this year’s ASPE/PCA Technical Symposium. I would also like to add a special thank you to the Education Committee for there work in selecting the program potential topics and speakers for this year’s event. Last but certainly not least a well deserved thank you to the entire staff of ASPE for all there hard work and dedication not only for organizing this years event but for all there hard work during the Symposium.
