Still Looking for a Few Good Volunteer’s

 

The search continues we are still looking for volunteers for the position of Co-Chair for the Philadelphia Convention. So are you up to the task and want to volunteer your talent. ASPE is looking for an individual to work hand in hand with Frank Heine CO-Chair of the 2010 Convention & EPE in Philadelphia.

The Convention Chairperson(s) is responsible for the overall success of the ASPE convention and Engineered Plumbing Exposition. The Chairperson, in conjunction with the Executive Director, is the official spokesperson of the Society on matters concerning the convention and the coordination of the convention and exposition.



The Chairperson is responsible for maintaining liaisons and building the relationships and Engineered

Plumbing Exposition and oversees the programming, logistics and coordination of the convention and exposition. The Chairperson is responsible for maintaining liaisons and building the relationships and coalitions with the Society staff, Board of Directors, Chapter Host Committee, Exhibitor Advisory Committee and hired show management necessary for the successful conduct of the convention and exposition.

The Convention and Engineered Plumbing Exposition Chairperson is appointed by the Society’s President and reports to the Society’s President and the Society Board of Directors.

  • Establishes agendas for, and presides at, Convention Committee meetings, Host Committee meetings and Convention Committee coordination meetings.
  • Establishes the convention theme with Executive Director and Vice-President, Education, for Board approval
  • Serves as a member of the ASPE Exhibitors Advisory Committee and assists in the selection and operations of the Exhibitors Advisory Committee and members of committee.
  • Works with the Executive Director in the selection and review of future convention sites for approval by the Board of Directors for presentation to the Society Delegates for ratification.
  • Assists Executive Director in evaluation and engagement of vendors and agents, and assists with the creation and formulation of contracts and agreements.
  • Functions as Society spokesperson for the convention and Engineered Plumbing Exposition.
  • Establishes implements and oversees pre-on-site and post-convention communication linkages.
  • Prepares and coordinates with the Vice-President, Education, and Vice-President, Technical, pre-, on-site and post-convention technical programming (e.g., call for presentations and papers, CEU credits, etc.).

 

  • Directs and oversees convention program scheduling.
  • Assists with the coordination, preparation and publication of the Convention Program booklet and the Engineered Plumbing Exposition floor guide.
  • Assists the Executive Director with the coordination and overseeing of convention events, activities, vendors and agents, and on-site convention offices and logistics.
  • Liaises with Chapter Host Committee and hired trade show managers.
  • Selects members of and manages Exposition Booth Award Committee.
  • Performs post-convention liaising and acknowledgments.
  • Informs updates and provides periodic progress reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Prepares the final Convention and Engineered Plumbing Exposition analysis and evaluation report, including the “crack list,” for Board of Directors within 30 days of the close of the convention.
  • Performs other functions as may be required by the President or Board of Directors.

2009 ASPE Technical Symposium

The ASPE Technical Symposium is just around the corner. Don’t let this opportunity to enhance your knowledge pass you by. Application for Compassion Waiver

As temperatures drop and summertime comes to a close ASPE is just starting to heat up. Chapters are coming off an extended break from conducting the General Membership Meetings. However, the Chapter Board of Directors has continued to meet over the summer to conduct, plan and strategize chapter business.  One of the most important items of business for the upcoming year is the recruitment of new members along with the retention of existing members.

As many chapters struggle to retain its members please be aware of the dues compassion waiver being offer in these tough economic times. The application for compassion waiver of society dues can be found on the Society web page under the Members Section.

Transportation Stipend

The Transportation Stipend is available to full registrants of the 2009 Technical Symposium.  To qualify, registrants must stay at the Dearborn Hyatt Hotel for all three nights required to attend the full Symposium (Thursday, Friday and Saturday).

A minimum number of full registrants must be in the “transportation vehicle” to receive the stipend and the minimum number of full registrants for the smallest qualifying vehicle is four.  If you meet the above mentioned requirements, you will receive the following based on the number of carpoolers:

  • $150 per vehicle towards gas for those driving their own vehicle carrying no less than 4 people from their Chapter area to the Symposium.
  • $200 per vehicle towards gas for those driving their own vehicle carrying no less than 6 people from their Chapter area to the Symposium.
  • $300 per vehicle towards gas for those driving their own vehicle carrying 10 or more people from their Chapter area to the Symposium.
  • Up to $500 towards the rental of a vehicle that must be able to hold 6 persons or more, plus $300 per vehicle towards gas for those who carry a minimum of 6 people from their Chapter area to the Symposium.
  • Up to $1,000 towards the rental of a vehicle that must be able to hold 10 persons or more, plus $300 per vehicle towards gas for those who carry 10 people or more from their Chapter area to the Symposium.

2009 Engineering Plumbing Product Show and Tailgate Party is FREE to All

On Thursday, October 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., ASPE will be holding the Engineered Plumbing Product Show at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan, to kick off the 2009 ASPE/PCA Technical Symposium. All plumbing engineers, designers, contractors, and others in the field are invited to meet with manufacturers while munching on burgers, brats, pulled pork sandwiches, and other treats. You may register for this complimentary event on site, so plan on attending with all of your coworkers
