ASPE’s New Headquarters!!

It gives me great pleasure to announce that ASPE has acquired a new headquarters building. This morning, Gary Mahoney, Secretary, and I signed the papers purchasing the building on River Road in Des Plaines, IL.

The building is located approximately a mile and a half from the current headquarters. This places the new office a little closer to O’Hare Airport.

The building is two stories that will provide ASPE the additional office space that is currently needed. It will also provide room for the Society to grow.

This is a major milestone for ASPE, with the purchase of their own building. Rather than leasing space, ASPE will be building equity with the new office.

The Board of Directors approved the search and possible purchase of a new building in October of 2008. This building was identified as a possible new headquarters in January of 2009.

While the search continued, negotiations started on the purchase of this building, as well as, financing of the building. At the April Board Meeting, the Board approved the purchase of this building.

Much of the credit goes to Stan Wolfson, Executive Director, for his tireless efforts in acquiring this office building. As many of you know, Stan is a master at negotiating. He not only negotiated a great deal on the building, he also negotiated a great mortgage for the Society.

The building was constructed in the late 1970's. It has already undergone renovations a number of years ago. Prior to moving in, ASPE will complete minor renovations to the building.

For those of you familiar with the Chicago area, the building is on the West side of River Road. As you exit O’Hare airport, one of the first exits is for River Road. You take River Road North about a half mile and arrive at our new building.

One of ASPE’s neighbors will be the new casino being built in Des Plaines. The casino will be located to the South of ASPE’s headquarters on River Road.

One of the reasons ASPE was able to obtain a mortgage was because of the lowering of the Society’s debt. This includes the help by the various Chapters in either returning their dues rebate, or participating in the dues rebate incentive programs. I want to thank all of the Chapters who participated for their help.

This is a great day for the Society. One that I will always remember.
