2006 ASPE EXPOSITION AWARD WINNERS

For each EPE, a “secret” committee roams the floor, viewing each booth, watching booth personnel in action, and evaluating the overall quality, craftsmanship, and appearance of each exhibit. On Tuesday morning, October 24, 2006, the EPE Award Committee made its
choices and presented awards to four exhibitors.

The H. Harry Kerman Award recognizes the company whose display in the EPE best exemplifies the theme of the Convention and EPE. The winner for 2006 is Viega NA.

In addition, up to five awards are presented to each company judged best overall in appearance, craftsmanship, and other evaluation requirements. For 2006 the winning companies are Moen, Just Manufacturing, and Heat Transfer Products. Congratulations to all.

Lucky John!
First, John J. Bertrand, CPD, vice president, membership, of the Atlanta Chapter won a Toshiba laptop during the hourly drawings on the EPE floor. Then, on Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at 3:15 p.m., Billy Smith, chair of the Exhibitors Advisory Committee dug deep into the ticket box for the Grand Prize—a 2007 Pontiac Solstice sports car. Sure enough, John Bertrand was a double winner. When his name was announced, you could hear John’s scream of delight from the EPE hall, clear out in the convention center lobby.

Congratulations John!

John put 257 tickets into the Grand Prize drawing box. How did he get so many? He said that it paid to sponsor new members to the Society. (Each sponsor and sponsored member got extra Grand Prize tickets.)

John Bertrand exclaims,

“I won!”

Joe Scott, ASPE president, congratulates John Bertrand and hands over keys to the car.

John’s ready to go. He had to wait until Wednesday to get the car out of the convention center and to the dealer. The car was titled in his name and in his home state of Georgia. All sales taxes and title fees were included as part of the prize. John is “only” responsible for state and federal income taxes.
