NominatingCommitteeSolicitsCandidates
for 2002–2004 ASPE Board of Directors

The ASPENominating Committee is actively seeking interestedand qualified members tobecandidates for election to the
ASPE Boardof Directors. Theelection will beheld at the2002 Convention and those elected will serve a two–year termup
to and including the nextASPE Convention in the fall of 2004. The six positions include President, Vice President Technical,
VicePresident Education,VicePresident Legislative,VicePresident Membership and Secretary/Treasurer.
Chairedby ASPE Past President,Patrick Whitworth,CPD,thecommitteeincludesarepresentativefrom eachofthe
Society’s five regions. A member of the Nominating committee will attend and participate in each of the five region Chapter
Presidents meetings tobeheldin June.
ASPE Bylaws require that members of the ASPE Board ofDirectors — and therefore candidates for the Board— must
be Full members in good standing, for at least thetwelve months immediately prior to the election. The candidates shall also
beeither P.E., or CIPE, CPDor both.
ASPE members interested in becoming candidates for the ASPE Board of Directors, are encouraged to submit aletter of
candidacy, resume,andpictureaddressedto theNominating Committeeviathe ASPEOffices inChicago. In addition, the
ApplicationPackageforCandidatesto ASPEBoard of Directors shouldaccompanythecandidacyletter.Candidateletters
shouldincludeastatement that thecandidatehas discussedhis/herinterest in becomingamember ofthe ASPEBoard of
Directors withhis/her familyandemployerandboth understand,and are preparedfor,thetimeand resourcesacrifices that
accompanytheposition.
Nominations will alsobeaccepted on theConvention floor. Candidateswho havesubmitted letters ofnominationwill
belisted intheSummer edition of theASPE Report.
Boardmembershiprequiresasignificantamountofvolunteertime.ServiceontheBoardrequiresatwo-yeartime
commitment.Boardmembership requiresdedication,time and energy. Eachyear,directorsattendat least four(4)2ºday
meetingsand one 2-day region meeting. In addition, Board members participate in regular Board conference calls; daily and
