The ASPE Nominating Committee is actively seeking interested and qualified members to be candidates for election to the
ASPE Board of Directors. The election will be held at the 2002 Convention and those elected will serve a two–year term up
to and including the nextASPE Convention in the fall of 2004. The six positions include President, Vice President Technical,
Vice President Education, Vice President Legislative, Vice President Membership and Secretary/Treasurer.
Chaired by ASPE Past President, Patrick Whitworth, CPD, the committee includes a representative from each of the
Society’s five regions. A member of the Nominating committee will attend and participate in each of the five region Chapter
Presidents meetings to be held in June.
ASPE Bylaws require that members of the ASPE Board of Directors — and therefore candidates for the Board — must
be Full members in good standing, for at least thetwelve months immediately prior to the election. The candidates shall also
be either P.E., or CIPE, CPD or both.
ASPE members interested in becoming candidates for the ASPE Board of Directors, are encouraged to submit aletter of
candidacy, resume, and picture addressed to the Nominating Committee via the ASPE Offices in Chicago. In addition, the
Application Package for Candidates to ASPE Board of Directors should accompany the candidacy letter. Candidate letters
should include a statement that the candidate has discussed his/her interest in becoming a member of the ASPE Board of
Directors with his/her family and employer and both understand, and are prepared for, the time and resource sacrifices that
accompany the position.
Nominations will also be accepted on the Convention floor. Candidates who have submitted letters of nomination will
be listed in the Summer edition of the ASPE Report.
Board membership requires a significant amount of volunteer time. Service on the Board requires a two-year time
commitment. Board membership requires dedication, time and energy. Each year, directors attend at least four (4) 2º day
meetings and one 2-day region meeting. In addition, Board members participate in regular Board conference calls; daily and
