COMPUTER W ORKSHOPS — YOU G ET THE F EE BACK!
To meet the ever changing technology needs of today's plumbing engineer, there will be a special program of hands–on
computer workshops. To provide hands-on computer experience to each participant, these intensive workshops will only
accommodate a limited number of participants.
|
|
|
|
|
These sessions will be provided on a first–come basis. Therefore, there will be a special $10.00 additional registration fee for
each of these sessions. However, each participant that attends the program, will receive a $10 ASPE coupon that can be spent
at the ASPE Pavilion (coupons good only during the Convention).
|
|
|
|
|
These workshops are for the intermediate and advanced participant. Programs will include Excel for the engineer, presenta-
tions and use of PowerPoint, and unraveling the mystery of the Internet and related programs.

ing is expected from the Department of Energy (approximately $100,000), with additional funds from some of the water
closet manufacturers. Regardless of any other funding sources, the Foundation will ensure that the project is properly funded
($350,000) and completed. The Board is scheduling its next Board meeting for College Station Texas so it can monitor the
building of the test stand and drain line research facility. The drain line carry research should be well underway by the
October ASPE biennial Convention.
In addition to meeting with Dr. Bryant, the Board also met with Mr. Swiki Anderson, in Bryan TX, to discuss the final
stages of the Medical Gas (Med Gas) pipe sizing software update. Some of you may remember when the Foundation
issued the original sizing program back in the early nineties. It was a time in the computer industry where “User Friendly”
was not necessarily a buzzword. The new software will be a Windows Based program with “Pull-Down” menus for ease
of application. You’ll be hearing more about this program and how you can obtain your own copy in the very near future.

New Research
The Foundation is finalizing the protocol for research on Air Admittance Valves (AAV) to study their effect on vent and
waste systems. The RFP’s will be going out soon with hopes that this research can begin before the end of the year.
The Foundation is “Off and Running”. Watch for continued updates on current and future research. As always, we’re
looking for new ideas for research. If you feel that that there is a plumbing system that needs further research done to the
benefit of our industry, please contact any one of the Research Foundation Board of Directors.
