ASPE's History
1964: The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) is incorporated in Los Angeles (September 18).
- The first board of directors serves a one-year term.

- 2nd Vice President: Edward Saltzberg
- 3rd Vice President: Richard Owens
- Administrative Secretary: Eugene Mandel
- Treasurer: Richard W. Drenske

1964: The first ASPE chapter, Los Angeles, is chartered.
1964: The first ASPE Data Book is presented to the Data Book Committee in loose-leaf binder format.
1965: The elected board of directors for the 1965–1966 term is as follows:
- President: Donald F. Dickerson
- 1st Vice President: Claude Yost
- 2nd Vice President: Edward Saltzberg
- 3rd Vice President: Larry E. Smith
- Administrative Secretary: Bruce T. Matthewson
- Treasurer: Richard W. Drenske
- Corresponding Secretary: Raymond Durazo
1965: The ASPE logo is established based on a design submitted by Richard Regaldo Jr., a charter member of the Los Angeles Chapter.
1966: The ASPE Bylaws are amended to allow the creation of local chapters across the country. Also, the board of directors vice presidents are changed to named positions representing the major areas of Society involvement. The elected board of directors for the 1966–1968 term is as follows:
- President: Donald F. Dickerson
- Vice President, Technical: Horace Yeh
- Vice President, Legislative: Michael C. Maroko
- Vice President, Membership: Ray Durazo (John Mitsumori becomes VPM mid-term)
- Administrative Secretary: Bruce T. Matthewson
- Treasurer: Joseph M. Pulici
- Corresponding Secretary: John Grijalva
1967: The San Francisco Chapter is chartered (October 18).
1968: The first issue of The American Plumbing Engineer magazine is published. ASPE contracts with a commercial magazine publisher to produce this magazine.
1968: The Phoenix Chapter is chartered (July 1).
1968: The Houston Chapter is chartered (July 10).
1968: The Richmond Chapter is chartered (August 28).
1968: The first ASPE Convention is held at the Ambassador Hotel Convention Center in Los Angeles September 11–15. The ASPE Bylaws are amended, eliminating the corresponding secretary position and decreasing the size of the board to six members. The elected board of directors for the 1968–1970 term is as follows:
- President: Michael C. Maroko
- Vice President, Technical: John E. McGuiness
- Vice President, Legislative: Donald S. Wilson
- Vice President, Membership: Joseph M. Pulici
- Administrative Secretary: John Mitsumori
- Treasurer: John Grijalva
1969: The Chicago Chapter is chartered (January 10).
1969: The Atlanta Chapter and Washington, D.C., Chapter are chartered (March 4).
