2000-Present

2000: ASPE moves its headquarters from Westlake, California, to Chicago, Illinois.

2000: The Columbia Chapter is chartered (April 28).

2000: The Palmetto State Chapter changes name to the Greenville Chapter (Spring).

2000: The Connecticut Chapter is chartered (June 28).

2000: The Johnstown Chapter is chartered (September 20).

2000: The Piedmont Chapter changes name to the Charlotte Chapter.

2000: The Palmetto State Chapter changes name to the Greenville Chapter (Spring).

2000: The ASPE Convention is held in Nashville, Tennessee. The elected board of directors for the 2000–2002 term is as follows:

2001: The Orange County Chapter is chartered (June 27).

2001: The ASPE Technical Symposium is held in St. Louis.

2002: The inaugural issue of Plumbing Systems & Design, ASPE’s award-winning magazine, is published (September).

2002: The Virginia Blue Ridge Chapter is chartered (December 10).

2002: The elected board of directors for the 2002–2004 term is as follows:

2003: The First Grassroots Budget Meeting is held at the ASPE office in Chicago (March 29).

2003: The ASPE Technical Symposium is held in San Antonio, Texas.

2004: The Silicon Valley Chapter ceases operation (January).

 

2004: The four-volume ASPE Data Book is renamed the Plumbing Engineering Design Handbook.

2004: The ASPE Convention is held in Cleveland. The elected board of directors for the 2004–2006 term is as follows:

2004: For the first time, attendees to the Engineered Plumbing Exposition (EPE) receive 1 contact hour of continuing education for each hour spent on the show floor (October).

 

2004: ASPE’s first Plumbing Systems Specification Guide is published with the November/December 2004 issue of Plumbing Systems & Design.

2005: ASPE hosts the One Plumbing Code Summit in Chicago to explore the idea of creating one standard, consensus-based model plumbing code for use throughout the United States and potentially North, Central, and South America (May 20).

2005: The first classes of the Fluid Systems Engineering curriculum at the University of Wisconsin–Madison begin (September).

2005: The Tulsa Chapter is chartered as a satellite of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter (September 16).

2005: The ASPE Technical Symposium is held in Rosemont, Illinois.

2006: The board of directors holds a contest to design a new Society logo. A winner was chosen, but the board decided against changing the logo at this time.

2006: The ASPE Convention is held in Tampa, Florida. The ASPE Bylaws are changed to increase the number of voting members on the board of directors from six to 12. The additional officers are vice president, affiliate, region 1 director, region 2 director, region 3 director, region 4 director, and region 5 director. The elected board of directors for the 2006–2008 term is as follows:

2007: The ASPE board of directors votes to eliminate all use of the Certified in Plumbing Engineering (CIPE) designation. All those still holding the CIPE designation are grandfathered into the Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) program.

2007: The CPD examination is conducted online for the first time (April 21).

 

2007: ASPE publishes its first nationally recognized plumbing design standard, ASPE 45: Siphonic Roof Drainage (July).

2007: Plumbing Systems & Design moves to a 10-issue-per-year publishing format (September).

2007: The ASPE Technical Symposium is held in Atlanta. ASPE holds its first-ever Product Show associated with a Technical Symposium.

2008: The first ASPE webinar, “Green Building: Sustainable Plumbing System Designs and the Plumbing Code,” is held (January 9).

2008: The floor of the 2008 Engineered Plumbing Exposition sells out—the first time ever—six months before the event.

2008: The ASPE Convention is held in Long Beach, California. The elected board of directors for the 2008–2010 term. is as follows:
